it’s literally insane to me that if you steal enough televisions you can go to prison forever. like we effectively go “okay your life is less important to me than a panasonic TV”. we literally value property more than human life

ok so this post is insane right? like the concept of imprisoning someone forever because they’ve stolen TVs is really crazy right. ok now replace “televisions” and “panasonic TV” with FOOD. you can go to prison forever if you steal food to survive. if you literally are like “i’m going to starve to death if i don’t steal this food” and then get caught enough you can go to prison forever.

Prisons are inherently and ideologically unethical. Prisons exist to house society’s undesirables and create a slave labor force that is legal. The “violent offender that needs to be housed away from society” is a myth used to proliferate this concept. Criminality is a symptom of social inequity and can be solved with better social and economic infrastructure. Abolish prisons.

theres a video of an italian woman catching pickpockets on reddit and its kind of insane how smug european redditors get about america’s racism problem and declaring they aren’t like us and then they immediately turn around and say all romani people are scammers and thieves. this is not racist because it’s true

fucking idiot claims systemic racism only exists in america

redditors coming to tumblr is gonna create a spike in people figuring out they’re trans that will rival even the first 6 months of quarantine

it’s ok, boys. i was once as you are. let the questions bloom & the answers enfold you 🌸

PSA to newcomers! if you:

  • constantly think about what it would be like to be another gender
  • feel envy towards another gender (sometimes mixed up with attraction to that gender)
  • believe anyone would choose to be that other gender if they could because it’s simply the better option
  • feel like you lost a genetic coin flip at conception because you could have been another gender
  • feel anguish and longing because you’re not “one of the girls”/“one of the boys” or because you’re excluded from gendered activities like girls’ nights
  • have dismissed the idea of transitioning yourself because you wouldn’t be “real” enough, or because “real” trans people know for sure when they’re young

then uhhhhhh you might want to think about that a bit! if any of those things rang a bell, then DM me and we’ll chat about it 🩵🩷🤍 😘

And always remember – you never need the “whole thing”. Gender identity and expression are both vast spectrums.

It’s way more useful, rather than trying to answer the big question of Am I Really A Girl ™, to break it down into individual subunits:

  • What aspects of my current body and/or gendered existence (social interaction, name, pronouns, terms of address, etc etc) am I unhappy with?
  • What aspects am I neutral about, but could be better?
  • What measures of transition exist to address those needs?

To use myself as an example: I genuinely hated the way that testosterone made me feel, emotionally and physically. Going on testosterone blockers was a way to solve that problem.

But I like my facial hair, especially after estrogen, so I kept it.

If you feel like aspects of being your assigned gender are painful to you, but you’re not sure you’re Really A Woman/Man ™, figure out what’ll make you happy and just do that. Take my hand, and join me in the big wide world of gender homebrewing.

Gee, Tumblr would probably really hate it if you shared and spread this damning article … To the surprise of absolutely none of Tumblr’s LGBTQ users, it turns out the independent NYC human rights agency Commission on Human Rights (CCHR) found that Tumblr’s ham-fisted adult content ban in December 2018 disproportionately targeted LGBTQ users. The CCHR’s investigation revealed Tumbler’s moderation algorithms is demonstrably biased against queer content. As part of the settlement, Tumblr was obligated to review their prejudicial anti-gay moderation policies. Even more mortifyingly, they’ve also had to hire an expert on sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI) issues and provide unconscious bias training to their moderators. I frankly doubt Tumblr has learned a thing from this humbling experience. Just recently the Tumblr algorithm flagged three ancient posts of mine as violating their terms. All three “offenders” were vintage homoerotic beefcake images (softcore by modern standards) roughly 50 – 65-years-old by Bruce of Los Angeles, Bob Mizer and Tom of Finland. (These are of course pioneering queer artists who routinely faced censorship and imprisonment in the fifties and sixties. Plus ca change!). They’ve been visible on my page - corrupting viewers -  for years at this point. I appealed all three immediately. Only the Tom of Finland one was approved. The other two are now hidden. So, they haven’t learned much. Apparently, Tumblr – who loves to declare how hip, youthful, inclusive and progressive their values are - wants to restore trust with their queer users. I’d recommend we remember their hypocrisy when Pride rolls around and Tumblr splashes rainbow flags everywhere and attempts to pink wash their image.

In honour of Pride Month, this is worth a reblog! Don’t buy into Tumblr’s hypocritical “pink washing.”

Here is the link to the documents themselves, if anyone was curious

There’s a mistake I see a lot of people in the mental health community make and in all honesty, it’s one I’ve made myself. But I think we should really work on it. And that’s saying “if this were a physical illness, wouldn’t you care?”

I’ve learned that no actually, people wouldn’t care. Katelyn Weinstein (theADHDprincess on Twitter) is a neurodiversity acceptance activist who really put this in perspective for me. She said that it’s actually more an issue of longevity than physical vs mental health.

If you’re having a bad day people will generally be understanding. But when you’re experiencing chronic depression and you have many bad days people lose sympathy.

In the same respect people may be understanding when you’ve broken a bone that will heal properly or when you have a cold that will go away soon in ways they simply won’t understand when you have chronic pain or need to use a wheelchair. They may send chicken soup for a temporary situation, but when you need consistent accomodations it’s an entirely different story.

I understand that from our perspective it looks like people care more about physical health than mental health, but it’s good to remember that our own perspective is also limiting. Facing ableism doesn’t mean you can’t be ableist. And I know so many people are not ill-intentioned when they say this. I know I wasn’t. But we can’t discount the lived experiences of physically disabled people. If we want true equality we need to be united and we need to listen to those with physical disabilities and illnesses. And those with physical disabilities and illnesses (some of which are also invisible) have said that they are not given proper accomodations either.

So let’s be united and fight for equality and accomodations for everyone, no matter what their illness or disability may be.

It is actually way better for 100 addicts to get their fix on pain pills than a single person in pain go without. I call this the “Torture is bad” principle. You should be able to get the good stuff forever after a single doctor’s visit. If you’re worried about addicts fund rehab centers and needle exchanges instead of torturing people.
